Hobbyist Writer

Trying to find the "new" thing to spend my downtime doing and I keep going back to the notion of writing again. I use to write about games as you can see looking around on morelikeandy.com and I did work for other sites that I'm not sure have my articles up for people to see anymore. I even made a blog post when first making this site talking about wanting to write more. Sadly, I couldn't manage my time efficiently to at least write something once a week.
I could jump back into games writing, sure, but I don't want to go back to reviews and news. I would think it would be better for my skills to get better by writing about anything and everything. Games, Tech, News, Life, nothing should be off limits. Giving myself this many options helps with not trying to add a lot of filler in each thing I write. The goal is to write about all the ideas in my head, not constantly edit one thing until I feel like it's enough (it's never enough).
Back when Twitter was a place that was fun to talk about anything, I would let my inhibitions go and say what was on my mind. I tried to write that way when I was creating articles about things that peaked my interests enough to make more than 140 character tweets.

But I fell into the trap of trying to get everyone's approval and my writing suffered severely. I changed my writing voice and ended up sounding bland and boring with the things I would write about. Even the videos I was creating came off as going through the motions to satisfy an imaginary goal that no one knew or cared about.
I don't want to fall into that trap again. Giving myself that runway to sit down and write without caring who likes it or reads it is what is best for me. If I want to continue to write and get my skills back, with the benefit of having a cool hobby, I need to keep this mindset. Here's hoping that I can pull through with it this time.
